Revolutionary War soldiers lived and died in Armstrong County, PA. The following I have collected from a number of sources.

The site is under construction, these are all the names I have at present. I am still seeking second sources for these soldiers. Please contact me with any additions or corrections .

AUSTIN, Samuel. Resided in Toby Twp. R328, served in PA Line, application 19 May 1834 from Armstrong Co. PA, age 78. Born 26 Jan 1756 in Chester Co. PA. In 1793 moved to Centre Co. PA and in 1805 moved to Armstrong Co. PA.

BLAIN, William, 1753-1827. Buried in Sugar Creek Twp.

BOSTWICK, Medad, of Toby Twp. He did not receive a pension as he did not serve six months.

BOYD, Daniel, died 1831. Buried in Plumcreek formerly resided in Redbank Twp.

BROWN, James, Sr. 1742- 6 Nov. 1830. Buried in Kittanning Cemetery in Rayburn Twp. S40750, served in PA Line, Enlisted in Lancaster Co. PA, application 6 Apr 1818 from Armstrong Co. PA. Aged 76, a resident of Kittanning, PA with a wife Mary age 68 and all his children were married and his youngest son Robert lately married but still lived with James to help take care of him and mother.

BROWN, John. Residing in Armstrong Co. in 1819. S22145, served in PA Line. Born 1760 at Hopewell Twp. New Jersey and enlisted in Bedford Co. PA. Application 18 Sept 1833 from Armstrong Co. PA, age 73. After the war John lived in Mifflin Co., PA for 10 years then to Armstrong Co. PA. was living here in 1825.

BUYER, George. Residing in Armstrong Co. in 1813. S40768, served in PA Line. Application 13 Apr 1818 from Armstrong Co. PA. In 1820, George was age 63 and a resident of Sugar Creek Twp. PA. Wife Susannah died about 1817. George was living with son, George Buyers and also part time wath a married daughter Jane and also mentioned another married child (not named).

CARUTHERS, James, 1754-1846. Buried in the Old Presbyterian Cemetery in Cowanshannock Twp.

CLARK, James. Buried in Wasson Hill Cemetery in Plumcreek Twp.

CRAIG, John, 1753-1850. Buried in Ancient Freeport Cemetery in Freeport, South Buffalo Twp. S82353, served in the PA Line. John was born in 1753 in New Jersey and lived in Derry Twp., Westmoreland Co. PA. Application 18 June 1834 from Armstrong Co. PA. a resident of Buffalo Twp. PA where he moved in 1796, a daughter mentioned, not named.

CRISWELL, Matthew. Buried in Cowansville Cemetery in East Franklin Twp.

DAVIS, Ebenezer, 1753-1818. Buried in Cowansville Cemetery in East Franklin Twp.

EASLEY, Casper, 1760-1829. Buried in Catholic section of Freeport Cemetery.

ECKMAN, Eden. Buried in Riverview Cemetery in Kiskiminetas Twp.This Eden Echman served in the Civil War and will probably be removed from this list.

ELGIN, James, 1750-1857. Buried in St. Thomas Cemetery in Plumcreek Twp.

FINDLAY, David. Residing in Armstrong Co. in 1810.

FISCUS, Abraham. W2778. Possibly buried in Plumcreek Twp.

GARY, Richard of Buffalo Twp. He is marked on the rolls of his regiment as "dead or deserted".

GIBSON, Gideon. Buried in Presbyterian Cemetery in Parker.He served in the Indian Wars.

GIBSON, Samuel M. Served in Indian Wars. Buried in Brick Church in Burrell Twp.

GREEN, John, 1766-1850. Buried in Green Cemetery in North Buffalo Twp. This information is in dispute. John would have been only 10 when the war started.

GREEN, William, 1740-1830. Buried in Green Cemetery in North Buffalo Twp. This information is in dispute. The William Green buried here fought in a Loyalist regiment.

GUTHREY, William,died 1828. Burial unknown.

HARMON, Andrew, was born 1764 in Westmoreland Co. died 1838 in Mahoning Twp., Indiana Co. Buried in Sagamore Lutheran Cemetery in Cowanshannock Twp.

HILEMAN, Peter, 1749-1833. Buried in Hileman Cemetery in Kittanning Twp.

HELFRICH, George, 1762-1833. Buried in the Old Shaffer Cemetery in Burrell Twp.

HENDERSON, Benjamin, 1766-1857. Buried in St. Thomas Cemetery in Plumcreek Twp.

HOLLER, George Henry. 4 Dec 1753-4 May 1838. Hollar served from Bedford Co. PA and came to Wayne Twp. between 1810 and 1820. He is probably buried in Wayne Twp.

KELLY, Alexander, 1769-1844. Buried in Crooked Creek Cemetery in Bethel Twp.

KING, John Jonathan,1757-1837 Biried in Sugarcreek Twp.

KING, George Adam, 1765-1843. Buried in Bush Cemetery in Burrell Twp.

KING, Mathias, 1730-1810. Buried in Westmoreland Co. He has a stone though at brick church Cemetery in Burrell Twp.

KIRKPATRICK, James. Buried in Wayne Twp, served four months.

LEECH, Archibald. Was discharged on 1 Jan 1778, living in Armstrong Co. in 1811.

LEONARD, Patrick, 1747-1811. Buried in Cowansville Union Cemetery in East Franklin Twp.

LEWIS, Ezekiel. Ezekiel married Martha McCollister and died in 1850. Buried in Cowansville Union Cemetery in Sugar Creek Twp., (now East Franklin).

LONG,John. Buried in Presbyterina cemetery in Plumcreek Twp.

McAFOOSE, Jacob. Listed in the S.A.R. Index. He lived in Armstrong Co. at the end of his life. Both he and his wife are buried in the county.

McCOY, Unknown. From wife Deborah's death in 1829.

McDONALD, Jospeh, 1760-1844. Buried in Franklin Twp.

McKEE, Andrew. Buried in Cowansville union Cemetery in East Franklin Twp.

MURPHY, Samuel, 1757-1851. Buried in Murphy's Bottom Cemetery in Buffalo Twp.

NEIL, Robert. Residing in Armstrong Co. in 1814.

NELSON, Robert, died 1826 in Sugarcreek Twp.

NOLDER, John, died 1823 in Plumcreek Twp.

NOLPH, Casper, 11 Nov 1730 - 1 Feb 1837. Buried at the Smith Cemetery near Eddyville, Mahoning Twp.

ORR, Robert. Buried in Kittanning Cemetery in Rayburn Twp.

PARKER, Charles. Served from 1776-1779. Living in Armstrong co. in 1818.

PONTIUS, John. Buried in Glade Run Cemetery in Wayne Twp.>/P>

REDICK, John. Buried in Presbyterian Cemetery in Parker.

RUPERT, Charles. Buried in Rupert Cemetery in South Bend Twp. Charles was in the war of 1812 and will be removed unless otherwise proven.

RUPPERT, "German" Peter. Possibly buried at the Rupert Cemetery in South Bend Twp.

SCHAEFFER, Anthony. Buried in Old Shaffer Cemetery in Burrell Twp.

SCHALL, Michael Sr. Schall was married ca 1769. He died ca. 1830. Buried in Riggle Farm Cemetery in Burrell Twp.

SERFAS, John, Buried in Old Shaffer Cemetery in Burrell Twp.

SHAFFER, Peter, Buried in Private Cemetery in Gilpin Twp.

SHIELDS, John, did not receive a pension, he did not serve six months.

SLOAN, James, died 1821 in Armstrong Co.

STANFORD, Abraham. He was a neighbor of Samuel Austin of Toby Twp. He came to Armstrong Co. from Centre Co. PA.

STEELE, Isaac Sr. Born about 1754, died 24 Oct 1842 at Sugarcreek Twp. Buried in Sugarcreek Twp.

STITT, William, 1755-1834. Buried in truby farm in gilpin Twp.

STUYVESANDTT, Tobias, 1759-1841. Buried in Christ Rupp Cemetery in Kittanning Twp.

TOWNSEND, Isaac. Born 27 Dec 1760-2 Nov 1837. Lived in Kiskiminetas Twp from 1800 and died there. Married to Rachel King. Buried in Hine Cemetery near Avonmore, in Westmoreland Co. PA.

TRUBY, Michael, 1762-1842 in old Kittanning Cemetery in Rayburn Twp. Some evidence that he did not serve under military authority.

VASEY, John. Residing in Armstrong Co. in 1821

VINIKEY, Jospeh. Buried in Mt. Zion Cemetery in South Bend Twp.

WEIGLEY, Isaac, 1758 - 8 Oct 1835, Buried in the Old Schaffer Cemetery in Brick Church. Exclusive of team service, he served four months.

WICK, Elisha. Buried in Cowansville Cemetery in East Franklin with Rev. War marker. Dates are 1780-1851. If that proves correct, he was born during the war.

WILSON, James. Buried in Presbuyterain Cemetery in East Franklin Twp. (Cowansville Union ?)

WOLF, Jacob, 1752-1838. Buried in Sugarcreek Twp.

YUNDT, Daniel, 1748-1836. Buried in Rupp Cemetery in Kittanning Twp.

ZEARPHUS, Henry. Rresiding in Armstrong Co. in 1814.
