Johannes/John LEINWEBER was born 5 Sept 1827 in Romberberg, Borken, Hesse, Germany. His parents were Johann Heinrich LEINWEBER and Anna Catharina HAHN. Johann and Anna Catharine were married 8 July 1827 in Niederurff, Germany.

John came to America in 1847, according to the Passenger list of the Bremon Barge, FRANZISKA. He was passenger No. 14, age 19. His occupation is listed as a wheelright. By 1850, John is living near Ore Hill Furnace in Armstrong Co. Pennsylvania. From his papers when leaving Germany, we know John was a journeyman coachbuilder. Perhaps he was building and repairing wagons at Ore Hill Furnace in Pine Twp.

John's wife was Anna Cathrine OPPERMAN. Anna Cathrine was born 31 Oct 1831 in Hundshausen Twp., Fritzler, Hesse, Germany. John and Anna Catherine had eleven children.
